Or maybe you wanted to do breaking and training, have spent many years in the saddle and now you want to put what your learned to work, and you need to get a handle of a good program in breaking and training colts. Well pack your boots, jeans and cowboy hat and come down and join us in Winchester KY 90 acres of lush pasture (just a short drive south of Lexington, KY where everything Horse is Happening)

My daughter at age 9 was not happy with dance, basketball and a few other things we tried to keep her busy with while we worked in the family Junk Yard and Florist. She announced one day she would like to go to horse camp. Well I was one of those kids who always wanted a pony so I said sure. Michelle would ask for a pony for her birthday, Christmas, and often just the first thing in the morning, hoping to have her dream come true. However, it wasn't until the end of summer camp at age 10 that we bought our first horse. Her first shows we knew it was too late to turn back, horses had already became our life, 4 horses later and growing, we purchased 6 acres in Bayport Long Island NY. . As Michelle grew out of a horse and moved up to the next one, a kid in the neighborhood would climb aboard and take a lesson. 17 years later we still have her first horse who has won more ribbons and made us more money than any World Champion we own. What he has taught us can never be paid back. We would like to show you just what working with an animal as great as Cherokee can do for your heart and soul. Many World Champions later we are now breeding QH's, Appaloosa's Paints and Pony of Americas. It has become not just a dream but a reality and we love sharing it with folks who just love horses. .

I worked in the Florist business for many years and soon gave it all up for horses. We traveled all over to show QH's and Appaloosa's Western Pleasure, Barrel Racers, Hunters, Jumpers, Reiners and Halter Horses we tried it all. We opened an Equine Riding center where we hired trainers to give lessons, broke horses and leased our horses for shows so others could join us in our ventures. After we put a few points on some mares we figured it would be nice to breed them. First we had a few Halter babies and next came a crop Western Pleasure and Hunters from our Champion Mare Miss MBJ Locket. Our students like Michelle have shown M BJ to the blues, watched her be Artificially Inseminated at home by our vet, were on hand for the sonograms, witness the birth of her foals, breaking and training and went on to show those babies themselves. Recently one of the mares born on the farm that they rode and won blue ribbons on , had a gorgeous Chocolua foal, 3rd generation on the farm. Those students have seen it all from insemination to birthing to breaking and training and on to the show pen with their little prospects. Next came Champion prospects by our very own 2006 AQHA High Point Barrel Stallion Verily Six Bugs. Our next move was to relocate our broodmares and Stallion to KY for the New KYQH BIF a huge incentive fund project the combination of the KY Racing commission, the state of KY and many breeds QH's, Apps, Paints and so on. QH stallions went from 97 to 600 in under a year in KY so we made the move. We found a nice 90 acre farm in KY we now call home for our Broodmares and Foals. Come and discover KY Outlaw Acre QH farm located just a short drive to Lexington KY where it all happens. . Come join us in an opportunity to pursue your dream of working with horses. We can do 2,3 day to 5 day internships in what we call a dream come true. Or stay with us 2 or 3 days on the farm, maybe take in a horse show, visit the KY Horsepark for a QH or USEF show or Keenland Race Track depending on the time of the year there is lots to do in KY. When done with your stay with us on the farm there is much to see. Horse shows and Race Tracks can be covered on the farm. However you still have Horse museums, Farm Tours of some of the great TB , Arabian and of course QH farms, Water Park Rides like Six Flags, Organized Trail rides in many parts of KY, 1 ,2 and 3 day River Boat Rides for the whole family to join, some with gaming or a short right over the river as well in many states bordering KY you will find gambling like at Kings Island both water park and Casinos. Plus Great Restaurants and shopping and of course the 2010 World Games coming next fall. We suggest if your coming that time of the year you book your hotel arrangements now.

A day at KY Outlaw Acres in the early Spring will mean mares foaling out or others being bred back, young colts started in training. Always something to do. Nights are very long breeding season and if you time it right you will be able to witness a new Outlaw come into the world. You might have to stay up all night but that first little winny will make it all worth it. Hear his or her first little winny, watch them take their first very scary steps, their first buck, and of course they drink from Mom all day, eat, play , sleep all day . "If you are at all interested in this type of business you must realize its long hours and hard work so you must have a true love for horses . We feel when it comes to the day we can't do the right thing for our horses it's time to sell and move on.

In KY our farm manager lives on the premises, her day consist of feeding , checking on mares or getting them ready to be bred. Checking on and handling the young ones new borns, weanlings, yearlings and two year olds. If they have special needs, shots or medicines that is done after feeding. The moms and foals come in each morning form pasture so they can be checked. While Renee feeds and waters she looks over the older stock and broodmares. Checks fences and automatic waters and than its time to clean stalls. Her nights are spent during the months of late February till June checking up on mares that are due to foal. All mares are inseminated artificially as it is safer, so the semen comes in by way of UPS or Fed Express. When it arrives the vet is called in and you will see just how the mares are bred. About 18 days later they are checked in foal by the vet. Sometimes it requires two breedings to get the job done. If things go right you will most likely between the hours of 11pm and 4 am witness the birth of a new foal. If we think it is going to happen that night we will let you know, and if you want give you a wake up call when the time arrives. Getting up early or staying up all night is part of the business. Our Ranch hands do all the breaking and training, you will learn to halter a newbie, lunge a yearling (going over voice commands on the ground that you will use again as a rider) and witness the breaking and training of a few coming two year olds. Step by step, including first hoof trims, perhaps some corrections made by our farrier and explanations of why.

Besides the breeding end, Early Spring we should have some coming two year olds to be broke, or yearlings to be fit for halter or the lungline class held late fall. If this is what interest you we will have one on one handling in the round pen, ground work first next step the saddle and than rider. Each horse is treated as an individual and the time is taken to work with each horse day by day, one day at a time. The handlers will first groom and go over each prospect before going out to the round pen. Next lunge and than saddle up. This is done 5 times a week with two days off, each session is different depending on the horses needs and or accomplishments in the pen. Even if you are not the ride , when it comes time to hire a person or send your horse to a trainer you will be well schooled on what to expect. If your more interested in breaking and training, and plan on hiring someone to do the breeding, you still need a good handle on that as well.

Always wanted to ride but afraid to? We've all been there. My advice for you is, "Just do something with a horse!" Pet a horse, bathe a horse, groom a horse, tack a horse, lead a horse, longe a horse. Do whatever you're comfortable doing with a horse. Slowly but surely your comfort zone will expand and you'll find yourself doing more and more, including riding
